Guns N Roses

Guns N Roses

Guns N Roses (or Gunners to their fans)… People will remember them for their hugely successful albums and singles in the late 1980s and early 90s. Their classic line up of the band consisted of lead singer Axl Rose, a man known for his flaming red hair and raspy voice. Top hat wearing guitarist Slash, and fellow six string king, Izzy Stradlin. Blonde bass player Duff Mckagen, and Drug abusing drummer Steven Adler. This bunch of misfits and high school drop outs took the world by storm, their success was huge and their debut album is the fasted selling debut album in history. So to say the least, Gunners were a very, very good band. They released hit after hit. Their trademark songs Paradise City and Sweet Child O’ Mine are instantly recognizable and are still played all over the world on radio today. They have had number one hits, record breaking tours. They played at the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert at London’s Wembley Stadium, this event was broadcasts to over a billion people world wide. They have been called the most dangerous band in the world and for good reason; their antics have sparked riots and protests, people have even been killed at their concerts, crushed by the amounts of fans who turn out to see them. Yes, Gunners at their peak were massive, bigger than massive. Their was a point in their remarkable carrier when they were the undisputed number one band in the world, in fact even Ozzy Osbourne was calling them the next Rolling Stones. But all this happened many years ago. In a period of less than 5 years Guns N Roses went from being the biggest band in the world to a complete train wreck… they were destroyed by their own success, this musical catastrophe can be credited to Axl Rose. Starting with Steven Adler, Axl slowly went about destroying what he had created. In the space of a few short years Axl had either fired or treated his band mates so badly that they quit. In fact, by 1997 no original member of Gunners remained apart from the red baron himself. And then came Chinese Democracy, the most expensive album ever made. Axl had been promising Chinese Democracy’s release since the early 90s… come 2008 it has finally surfaced. But by then planet earth had forgotten Axl. What did he expect? The man has fired his friends and rejected the world that loved him; he all but disappeared after Guns N Roses released their last album to feature Slash and Duff (an abysmal collection of covers named ‘The Spaghetti Incident’) and apart from the odd tour, you would be hard pressed to know that Axl was even alive. Well I guess the world now has Chinese Democracy, which isn’t really a bad album, but the amount of money Axl used on this record is ridicules (over 14 studios were listed in the credits). You are now 47, Axl isn’t it about time you grew up?

About Me

Ummm… My name is Ben, i love music and snowboarding. I am at College and I am not a huge fan of blogging. I created this Blog as part of a school project for my English Writting class and I hope you enjoy it.

Blogging

Blogging is a time consuming waste of time. I don’t like it, i am only doing because i a forced to by my English teacher. I believe you will find that the majority of bloggers are sad, pasty, middle aged computer nerds  who still live with their mother. I mean, sure, blogging is ok if you only do it once in a while and dont get me wrong, their are some interseting and informative blogs out there, and I’m sure there are a few people out there who are perfectly normal people that regularly blog. But over all Blogging is a waste of time, get off your computer chair and go outside and see the sunshine.

Inside the Insideline, A blog review

The Inside Line is a blog primarily devoted to tassie band, Lincoln Llefevre & The Insiders. Written in a rather witty style by the Insiders Front man(Lincoln Llefevre). Among other things, The Insideline contains an interesting collection of tour diary entry’s posted between January 17th and February 1st. The diary tells of the bands tour along the east coast of Australia. Throughout the tour the band encounter some dodgy Mexican food, a secret Vasco Era Gig and are attacked by some vicious bed bugs at the Flagstaff Motor Inn.

As well as the tour diary, The Insiders Blog features posts that let us inside the mind of Llefevre. There are posts that feature Llefevre informing us how dangerously obese the Tessie state  has become. He describes a seen of a car filled with fucking huge bogans (who he describes as human sized balloons), this particular blog i found to be quite an interesting read.  There is even a post that features song lyrics for new songs that Llefevre has written. Over all The Inside Line is a very interesting Blog website.
